A double elimination bracket until the semifinals will be in place for all classifications. The main reason behind the proposal is that the current format is outdated and the tiebreakers involved with pool play are burdensome. This new format should be very entertaining for our fans and provide extra motivation for all teams! You can go to CHSAANOW website to read about this new proposal. Go to Legislative agenda and open up the Agenda in the Full Packet. It is at the end of the 230 page document. Here is Motivational Piece from the late great Tennessee Women’s Basketball Coach Pat Summitt. This applies to all sports. You can find the entire descriptions on the web. BOYS’ BASKETBALL President Joe Ortiz I want to wish you all the best as you finish up your regular season. If you have any questions for me or if I can help you in any way please do not hesitate to contact me. joseph.ortiz@dcsdk12.org I have shared some of my thoughts on Winning Reflex. Take care, Joe Winning reflex is the way we would like our players to respond to adverse situations. No matter how good your team is or how prepared you are for your opponents you will be put in tough situations in which the character and heart of the team will be put to the test. You might be playing a great team at their house and find yourself down 9 points at halftime. Or you could be playing an extremely talented team which just made a comeback to reclaim the lead in the 4th quarter and has all the momentum on their side. How are you going to respond? A championship team or program will respond with a winning reflex. There is no panic - only a calm confident mindset. There is no finger pointing - only a team united with the same sense of purpose on each and every possession. There is no selfish play or players trying to take the game over by themselves - instead it is a team effort recognizing who is open and where our strengths lie and big players making big plays within our system. Winning reflex can also be the response a team makes to a defeat. Winning reflex is a mindset that can’t be learned overnight. It is the product of a program winning over a period of time. It is the mindset every program strives to attain and maintain.
