Maggie Kilmer: A 1970 graduate of Sterling High School and 1974 B.A. recipient at Adams State College. She received an M.A. from University of Northern Colorado in 2001. Her coaching and teaching career took her back close to home at Prairie Schools where she was both the High School Girls Volleyball and Basketball Coach. Kilmer coached in the first ever CHSAA sponsored girls state volleyball championship game in 1975 and girls state basketball championship game in 1976. Her 1975 volleyball team was awarded CHSAA’s first state crown for a girls’ sports team. In addition she was the boys and girls track coach 1974-79 and 1985-98. Coaching Record: State Volleyball Championship 1975 & 1976, State Girls Basketball Championship 2001. Her overall volleyball coaching record is 192-80 and her overall basketball coaching record is 201-89. Three times state runner up in basketball. She coached in 562 volleyball and basketball games with an over 70% winning rate. Basketball Head Coach 21 seasons, Volleyball Head Coach 18 seasons, Track Head Coach 16 seasons. Offices: Several years of coaching in both CHSCA and CCWS All State Games. Volleyball Official 1978-1999, serving as an area director for ten years. Honors: Coach of the Year five times, League Coach of the Year numerous times. Started the softball program at Northeastern Junior College. The gymnasium at Prairie School was named after Kilmer with the dedication ceremony on August 29, 2014. Family: Husband: Kerry (deceased). Son: Matt, Daughter: Kim, Grandchildren: Owen and Eli Kilmer, Lawrence and Joanna Torluemka Tony Schenbeck: The 1962 graduate of Gering High School in Nebraska soon made his way to Colorado to complete his education at the University of Northern Colorado where he received a B.A. in 1966 and then later an M.A. in 1976. After starting his education career at Mead Junior High he soon found his way to the high school scene at Mullen High School. He had a ten-year stint at Mullen High School as a baseball coach and athletic director before moving to Overland High School to fill the same role for 20 years. The never-tiring coach then went back to Mullen to work for another 16 years. Coaching Record: As a high school baseball coach Schenbeck recorded 398 wins to only 269 losses. His 1990 Overland Trailblazers won the then big-school state championship in Class 3A. This followed the state title his Mullen Mustangs had accomplished in 1978. In total his teams won six league championships, made four final four appearances, and won two state championships. Offices: 40 years a member of CHSCA. Served the CHSAA by chairing the Baseball, Softball, Soccer, and Gymnastics committees at different times. Hosted the Colorado High School Baseball Coaches Association Clinic at Overland High School. Honors: 2010 Colorado Dugout Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame Inductee, and 2008 Mr. Colorado Baseball Award. In 1993 the Overland High School Baseball Field was named Schenbeck Field. 1972 & 1990 American Baseball Coaches Association District 6 Coach of the Year. 1978 Colorado High School Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Year. 1990 Denver Post Baseball Coach of the Year. 1993 CADA 5A Athletics Director of the Year. Family: Wife: Patricia, Sons: Michael and TJ, Daughter: Debbie Al Snyder: A 1977 graduate of Florence High School and a successful B.A. and M.A. candidate of Adams State College in 1982 and 1986. He has taught and coached in Simla Schools from 1984 to present. The career special education teacher and present athletic director has been the head girls basketball coach for over 30 years. He served as the school’s head baseball coach in 2001-2005 after being an assistant from 1992-1996. He had an early career stint as an assistant girls volleyball coach under CHSCA Hall of Fame Coach Sue Snyder. Coaching Record: The Cubs secured State Championships under Snyder’s direction in 1996 and 2010. They claimed the second place trophy in 1997 and 1998. Twelve times his teams have made the trip to the state tournament, and an equal number of times have been crowned the Black Forest League Champions. Offices: 30 years a member of CHSCA he was the girls’ Basketball President for two years. Coach Snyder has been the BFL girls’ basketball league representative to the CHSCA All State Games Selection Committee for twelve years. Honors: 2006 Ceal Berry Award Winner, 2004 CHSCA Teacher/Coach of the Year, Recognition for 500 plus wins from CHSCA, 2002 Colorado Springs Basketball Appreciation Award.
